Supercommunicating: Crafting Effective Communications To Sell Your Idea

How can you sell your big idea if no one understands it? To succeed in today’s data-driven, technology enhanced world you need a new set of skills to thrive. Based on Frank Pietrucha’s bestselling book Supercommunicator: Explaining The Complicated So Anyone Can Understand participants learn how to:

The first phase of the course outlines the elements of Supercommunicating. Participants see what effective communication looks like and understand how today’s digital environment has changed the way we exchange information. The four modules of Supercommunicating break down the process and provide participants with an in-depth look into how to apply Supercommunicator principles to their own professional speaking engagements.

The course combines lively instruction together with practical individual and group exercises. Participants finish the course with a better understanding of how to:

 Structured Thought and Communication: Foundations

InfographicIf you want to get to “yes” efficiently and effectively, this course is exactly what you need.  We teach participants how to define and analyze an idea as well as how to successfully communicate and gain support for their initiatives through the application of an efficient and effective analytical method. Participants learn how to:

  • Create and define a “core idea” they want to get support for
  • Build logic to support that “core idea”
  • Define the analyses required to support that “core idea”
  • Draft and discuss their “story” with key stakeholders
  • Package their “story” in a variety of formats (presentation, memo, email, etc.)

The course consists of instructor-introduced concepts, practical application exercises, and culminates in a case study where participants apply the entire method to a business problem.

The target audience for this course consists of individuals in analytical or persuasive roles at mid- to senior levels of corporations (e.g., analysts, managers, mid-level executives). The value of this course to the participants and to the organization as a whole are:

Influencing Through Storytelling

In this program, our instructors teach participants how to craft compelling business stories that resonate with their audience to drive people to action, set a vision, lead change, sell your ideas, inspire your team, or foster more creativity and innovation. Paul Smith’s bestselling book Lead With a Story: A Guide to Crafting Business Narratives That Captivate, Convince, and Inspire serves as the basis for this program.

In class, participants learn:

  • WHY storytelling works to sway an audience of 1 or 1,000
  • WHEN to tell stories (and when not to)
  • HOW to craft compelling business stories

After class, participants complete a 6-month storytelling practice program that includes 12 bi-weekly learning and practice modules. Each module includes a new and insightful question to prompt the participant to identify, craft, and leverage a new story, as well as a deeper dive into one of the 18 critical story skills learned in class.

The ‘how to’ modules include: story structure, metaphors, emotion, realism, surprise, style, plus how to let your audience take part in your story – not just hear it told.

Bring a story to class. You’ll need it. Throughout the course, participants are challenged with exercises and follow a simple story assessment scorecard and roadmap to more effective stories. Plus you’ll be highly engaged with inspiring stories from dozens of CEOs and executives at successful companies around the world who were interviewed in preparation of the book and this course.
